KLA was founded with the belief that landscape systems and site specificity can become the generator for strategic urban design.  Rapid decentralized urbanization, as well as a lack of understanding of landscape ecology, has allowed natural systems in the US to be ignored as resources for creating productive landscapes and urbanism.  KLA utilizes facilitated community process and integrated stakeholder input to find solutions for urban form, open space systems, sustainable energy generation, and regulatory codes and guidelines. The work at KLA focuses on creating productive landscapes and urbanism that provide ecological and economic benefits, thereby creating a platform for social interaction and growth.
